NEC VersaPro Ultralite is one amazing ultraportable computer packing a Core i7-620UM ULV processor and a claimed battery runtime of 12 hours. The notebook is just 0.45mm at its thinnest and weighs-in at 897gm. Impressive – Very. Coming to its storage, the manufacture allows you to equip it with either 62GB SSD, 320GB HDD or 160GB HDD and the memory can be configured upto 5GB. You get the choice to run 7, XP Pro or VIsta Business SP1.

From outside, it looks and feel like a netbook, but the specs are of a powerful notebook. Heck, they even found a way to squeeze-in a PC card slot into its tiny frame. The company claims that you can get 12 hours of runtime from it, which, of course, is possible with it, but it increases the weight to 1kg. Usually, the machine comes with a smaller battery which still delivers a respectable runtime of 7.7 hours.

Performance-wise, the 1.06GHz Core-i7 delivers better performance compared to any netbook out there, creaming the latest Z560 2.13 GHz CPU. VersaPro scored 5092 in PCMarks test while the new Sony Vaio P with Z560 could get only 1468. This further confirms that clock speed should not be considered as a litmus test for measuring the performance.

So, what is not great about this netbook ultrapowerful beast? The price. Price starts at 2800 dollars (248,000 Yen) and at that price, you can get nearly 10 netbooks with Atom N450 processor.  [product page]
