Most of the upcoming netbooks will have Touch-Screen displays

A lot of touchpanel manufactures are predicting the netbook manufactures to adopt the touch screen displays for their upcoming netbooks to utilize some of the features in Windows 7 OS. It would require just $30 to add a touch panel to a netbook that has less than 12-inch screen.

It would also allow the possibility to completely do away with the trackpad and further shrink the size of the netbook.

why does one need a touch screen to do away with the trackpad? Remember the IBM Trackpoint that is disappointingly available ONLY on the Sony netbook?

Gabe, you have a nice idea there as trackpoint is a pretty decent touchpad alternative, but only for those who have used IBM laptops in the past.

Nobody can simply jumpstart using the trackpoint as it is not as *easy* to use as touchpad. On the other hand, one does not need any skill to use touchscreen.
