How to change wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter? (ASUS EEE PCs)
One of the most annoying features that Microsoft introduced in the Windows 7 Starter is the inability to change the background wallpaper. Now, there is an easy way on how to do away with that problem. First download system setting utility. Then, change it via system settings in eee docking and you are done!

P.s. to the person that downloaded the file but did not open the program, look in your start menu, i found it there called System Setting

I cannot say. Usually EEE utilities do not get installed on non-EEE machines. But, you should give it a try. May it will work :)

ok, listen carefully. i was trying to figure out how to change my background, cuz i have the acer aspire with windows 7 starter, and with starter, you just not allowed 2 change your background, but if you upgrade to anything higher than starter you can change your background. so theres a way to get free windows home premium. what you do is go 2 control panel, then go click on “windows anytime upgrade” then click on enter upgrade key. then enter this code below. just copy and paste it.

after that it will upgrade you from windows 7 starter, to windows home premium.it will probably take about 10 or 15 mins for it 2 fully upgrade. your laptop will restart like twice. then log on your laptop, and some stuff will pop up, telling you about home premium, just ignore it. then, after that all you gotta do 2 change your background is click on a picture and hit set as background. oh yeah, the first time i set a pic for my background it sorta put it way at the top, if it does that 2 u, just go 2 ur pictures folder n “my computer” and right-click on the picture you want to set your background as, and click “edit” it will then take you to the paint mode, after that click on like the little arrow in the top left corner, then go down to set as background, click the little arrow next to it, and then click the last option in the drop box, it says “center” then…..there you go! you go a like $150 kit.

yo dont need the file just go to the eee doc and go to system setings and is going to let you change it
uhh im like frustrated it doesnt work i havf3e windows 7 aspire one and nothng hel0ed what can do??
okay, well if you have a dell mini like i do, then at the top of the home screen there is that toolbar that pops up. and the third icon on it should say photos. and the dropdown says view and publish photos. click it. then it takes you to your pictures. then if you right click on those pics, it will say “set as desktop background”. i havent quite figured out the rest yet. but i hope that works?!

SO STUPID that these IDIOTS made a system where you had to download another system in order to alter a background! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for this information because I bought mine yesterday and was getting ready to throw it back at this salesmen! Very helpful.

This doesn’t seem to work on my Eee Pc Model 1005PEB. What am I doing wrong? Help! Nothing happens when I hit save changes in the systems setting utility.
This worked like a charm. I was about to download a different 3rd party app and try that when I stumbled across this…THANK YOU! I just got the Eee PC last night for me company and wanted my logo as the background so it looked cleaner. The fact that this is a setting in the ASUS setup made it very trustworthy. Thanks!!!!
when i click on eee docking in the start menu nothing happens?
Fantastic! :-D I was really annoyd by not beeing able to change background, this helped. Only i had to put the picture i wanted in the wallpaper default file under system settings.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! It worked for me on a Asus 1005PE. For those of you having problems, a couple of hints.
*This is a program made by ASUS so it’s probably not going to work on your HP, Dell, etc..
*This download is a compressed ZIP file that needs to be extracted first before it can run. There are free programs that can do this like WINZIP but I recommend 7zip(it’s a faster and lighter program). Once you are able to extract the ZIP folder, you get a regular installation program and it’s easy from there on.
