Give KDE Plasma Netbook Shell a performance boost
In most netbooks, the Plasma Netbook Shell runs as fast as a Cheetah, but in some netbooks, users find it rather slow. By default, the rendering is done via Xlib and Xrender and if the Xreader acceleration is not efficiently implemented in the video drivers, things are going to pretty sluggish.
Fortunately, this can be fixed by switching to raster graphics which are much faster on the netbooks. To do this, edit the file
~/.kde/share/config/plasma-netbookrc
and add this to the file
GraphicsSystem=raster
..and the change is incredible
