Gateway LT32

  • Sharebar

This Gateway LT32 is a simple rebranded version of the Acer 721 netbook which is a no surprise to us since the Acer owns Gateway.  So, just like Acer ao721, the Gateway LT32 skips the Atom processor for AMD Athlon Neo II K125 processor which performs much better than most of the market dominated by the Atom-powered netbooks. The LT32 also features ATi Radeon HD 4225 that is even more powerful than the GPU present in Asus’ AMD-powered 12-incher (ATi HD 3200)– Asus Eee 1201T. This makes some of the basic games playable.

Update – official webpage is up [link]

Update 2 – Comes with stupid 4400mAh battery. No wonder it has just 4 hours of runtime. Price – 450 dollars

To make the overall package more attractive to the customers, Gateway has added-in a 2GB RAM  module and runs Windows 7 Home Premium instead of the standard and ‘boring’ 1GB RAM and Windows 7 Starter Edition OS.

Folks at cnet [link] were able to get their lucky hands on the LT32 and they found the keyboard very easy to type-on, thanks to large chiclet-style keys.

Some more words about its performance – The online Flash video playback is flawless, even better than the netbooks with Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator. So, is there anything not to like about this AMD-powered netbook? Well, just do not expect this netbook to last you whole day. The Gateway LT32 delivers a runtime of mere 4 hours, which is good, but not staggeringly good . Nevertheless, it is a great, cheap ultraportable for those seeking for some extra performance from a netbook.
