The 751 is the worst netbook I’ve ever had the misfortune to own.
The GMA500 (poulsbo) drivers simply don’t work. They redraw the screen, or just parts of it, whenever they feel like it. Often dragging the computer down with them in a fiery crash.
I thought it was just the Linux drivers that were botched. But no, even the Vista drivers are unable to keep track of a screen consistently.
It’s a crying shame, because the machine is flat, light, has a beautiful screen and an unusually long battery life.
That is so unfortunate. You tried 7 on it?
I tried Ubuntu, Fedora, Windows XP, Vista and now 7 on it.
It’s horrible. It won’t even redraw the background photo when you re-size a window over top of it. In Linux this causes the system to freeze. At least in Windows it continues working.
The hardware is very enticing. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. This makes it very painful to see it fail so spectacularly on poor drivers.

Thanks. I’ll give that a shot. I’m at my wit’s end with this thing.
I noticed that there is a 3210 BIOS dated October 5, 2009. Any idea what this improves – if anything?
No idea really. I have sold my Aspire 751h for VAIO X
