Disney teams up with ASUS to make a special netbook for kids! – NETPAL
âDisneyâ and âNetbooksâ may be the two terms that not used together, but soon Disney will coming out with a Disney branded netbook called Netpal. This netbook will be targeted towards the kids that are between 6-12 years of age.
The Netpal will come with an Atom processor and an 8.9-inch screen. As far as colors are concerned, you will have choice of two colors: âPrincess Pinkâ and âMagic Blueâ.
ASUS will also include a âkid-friendlyâ interface on top of Windows-XP including some themes built around Mickey Mouse, Cars, Toy Story, Wall-E etc. Also, since it is meant for small children and they will be stepping into the big-bad world of Internet, parental controls are very much needed in order to stop your child from viewing âyou-know-whatâ. In addition to that, the kids can only correspond via email to those people which are approved by the parents.
For storage, you have two options. Either you can go in for the 16GB SSD or 160GB HDD. Going for 16GB SSD would be better option as the kids may not put the unit into standby (or put in into hibernation) before moving it around.
The Netpal will be available at Toys R Us and Amazon.com and will be modestly priced at $350.

Damn, I just do not want my kids to come upto me and ask for a netbook! Curse you Disney!
That REALLY looks like a poor quality netbook to me..certainly not up to standards of asus
They are asking too much for this sh**. Seriously, why not just buy a second hand eee pc 900 or something like that for them ;)
[...] Disney and ASUS announce Netpal netbook for kids June 16th, 2009 | Categories: Gadget Past Disney gadgets may have been heavier on the Disney than the gadget, but we’re guessing there’ll be at least a few parents out there a little envious of ASUS’s new Disney-branded Netpal netbook for kids, which will be available in your choice of “Princess Pink” or “Magic Blue” colors (the latter replete with tiny Mickey Mouse icons). In addition to that eye-catching exterior, each netbook also packs a custom, kid-friendly Disney interface, along with a range of built-in parental controls, and some customizable themes based on Mickey Mouse, Toy Story, Wall-E, and other Disney properties. As you might expect, however, the netbook itself is just a standard 8.9-inch Eee PC, but it is at least available with either a 16GB SSD drive or a standard 160GB hard drive. No word on a release date just yet, but it looks like this one will set you back $350. [Via GadgetMix.com] [...]

The quality looks below average. But, If it was a Kingdom hearts themed netbook. I will more likely want it.
