Sony Vaio M Review

Sony is the maker of famous ultraportables or shall we say expensive ultraportables. But, with its Vaio M netbook, for the first time, we are looking at Sony showing peculiar affection towards the budget netbook market. The Vaio M is a brave attempt by Sony to eat a small piece of the already over-saturated 10-inch netbook form factor.

Asus Eee 1201NL review

Asus has already churned out several variations for their 12-inch netbooks. We have seen 1201n, 1201ha, 1201t, 1201nl, 1201x, 1201k and so on. Few weeks back, we posted the review of the Asus Eee 1201T and we were pretty impressed with the performance. We also have the Asus eee 1201N which is very powerful for a netbook, but does not yield satisfactory battery runtimes. For those yearning for better runtime, Asus rolled-out another 12-incher called 1201NL. This one has Atom N270 processor and Nvidia ION LE combo. So, does it gets a thumbs-up from our side? Asus 1008P review – KR

Asus 1008P is the successor of the suave Asus 1008HA which brings the newest Intel Atom N450 processor. On paper, the Eee 1008P appears to be a typical netbook, but it offers some very interesting features which I will discuss in the review.

Asus 1201T review

Asus Eee 1201T is a decent netbook that is powered by the AMD-powered processor instead of the Atom processor that one commonly finds in a netbook. Its immediate cousin – the Asus eee 1201N is outfitted with Intel Atom N330 dual-core processor that is more commonly found in nettops.

ASUS EEE 1101HA review

The ASUS EEE 1101HA is the epitomization of good looks combined with great battery life. It carries the same Seashell design like its 10-inch brother, EEE 1008HA. But, the ASUS has entering a bit late into the 11.6-inch netbook market, but that does not make it an unattractive deal by any chance. It is a great netbook.

ASUS EEE 1005PE review

ASUS EEE 1005PE is the first netbook by ASUS to feature the latest Pinetrail processor. Infact, it is one of the first netbook out there to feature this new processor. The 45-nanometer processor – Atom N450 combines both GMA 3150 graphic chipset and memory controller in a a single CPU die. So, does this new EEE PC really has something new to offer or is it just another EEE PC on the block? Find that out!

The ASUS EEE 1005PE runs Windows 7 starter which has already been a huge hit among the netbooks and notebooks. It comes equipped with 1GB or 2GB of RAM. Also comes with it is the spacious 250GB hard disk @ 5400 rpm which is plenty fast for any task you throw to it. Just do not try running Halo or Crysis on it. Run that on your gaming rig.

Engadget has done a pretty detailed review of the ASUS EEE 1005PE and they are pretty impressed with it. Although, the ASUS could have made the overall chassis slimmer as both GPU and processor are integrated chip, they did kept the whole chassis same as EEE 1005HA that comes with an Atom N280 processor. ASUS has included Express Instant on OS if you wish to go online within seconds. It can be launched by pressing the button just above the keyboard

There is a slim card slot too that is hidden behind the battery. This means that you will be able to enjoy broadband-class Internet even when you will be on the go.

Laptopmag praises it quite a lot too, but they were not too impressed with its glossy body which catches smudges very quickly. Also, the performance gain is not that much. It is more or less similar to the existing Atom processors. Just like in the case of ASUS EEE 1201N, there is a single touchpad button which combines both left and right click buttons.

The appealing chassis of ASUS 1005PE also incorporates a nice comfortable keyboard. The keys are chiclet type which means that you will jump starting typing on it at full throttle in almost no time.

It can run Hulu.com videos at full screen @ 30fps which look great on its 1024×600 screen. The battery life is almost God-like – over 8 hours!

Bottom Line: If you are looking for a affordable netbook with great battery life that looks handsome too, looks no further than the ASUS EEE 1005PE!

I had a friend just get one of these. The first thing I did was download a 1 minute discovery podcast to see if it could play full screen with out jerking ripping and dropping to a low frame rate.

The processor power does mean much when it can not run a dinky SD podcast at full screen.

So if you think your going to be watching movies or sharing youtube videos with friends don’t expect a Wow from them on this machine.

  4. Grafx says:

Sorry, the answer was NO it cannot play a small podcast full screen without tearing it apart.
