Acer Aspire One 751H/AO751H and Windows 7 (information, drivers..everything!)

  • Sharebar

update:get updated VGA and chipset from HERE

There are few unfortunate and sorry people whose Aspire 751H came loaded with the Windows Vista, which is certainly not the OS of choice for netbooks. For those people with XP-running 751H are still pretty satisfied as it works pretty decent, although not as good as netbooks that come with Atom N280 processors. Windows 7 is reported to be running as good as XP and brings lots of eye candy and useful features to your netbook.

Windows 7 has been tried and tested on the Acer Aspire 751H and it runs it really nicely. However, to get it working perfectly, you will need to install the right drivers and here is the list of REQUIRED drivers for your Aspire 751H:

1) INTEL GMA500 DRIVER: Link to Intel’s website

To install, choose one of the following options (both work):

* Unzip file, go into the Device Manager (Control Panel), find the video adapter, right click and select “Update Driver Software”, choose the “Browse for driver software on your computer” option, then select the LPCO folder in the unzipped folder. Windows 7 will take it from there.
* Unzip file, right click on Setup.exe, choose “Properties,” click the “Compatibility” tab, check the box for “Run this program in compatibility mode for,” then select “Windows Vista.” You can then double click Setup.exe and install like normal.

2) Realtek Audio: Link

3) LAN: Link

4) Touchpad: Link

5) WiFi: Default Windows 7 driver work fine

6) Webcam: Default driver works fine

Note: Aspire 751H supports HD video only if you use its hardware acceleration. Here are the steps on how to get it done:

* Get cyberlink Powerdvd (Purchase not necessary.)
* Get a video player that allows use of external filters/codecs. Use MPC-HC or KMplayer. In MPC-HC, with the cyberlink-codec set to “preferred” under “External Filters”

  1. This Acer Aspire One models come with a standard one-year parts and labor warranty, which can be extended to three years with the Acer Advantage service. Additionally, some Acer models have longer warranties
offered through specific channel partners. All Acer netbooks are backed by toll-free service and support.

  19. Adanedher says:

Thanks a lot for the driver’s

I have problems with the sound device, i think this is my solution. I’ll test the MC player for HD

  20. mej says:

how can I use my webcam???
I can’t use it since i upgraded to windows vista.

  21. Kamal DS says:

    install software from support.acer.com

  22. Jonny says:

Ok… Here’s a question I am having problems with finding an answer to: Has anyone attempted a 4gb RAM upgrade on the 751h? I have one. The make the correct spec chip in 4gb, but I see a lot of things saying it will only accept 2gb. I have seen claims in the past busted by new information… Like my Pentium III that for some reason was only supposed to accept the 256mb RAM, but had no issues using the 512mb when it became readily available. So, HAS ANYONE TRIED IT?

  23. tora says:

Jonny, did you try 4GB??? If it works that would make this little machine not all the better.

  24. Erkme73 says:

I’m trying to install Win7 Ultimate from an external USB. I Have a supertalent 32GB SSD installed – and XP worked great. After running through the initial installation questions, when windows goes to the “copying Windows files” it immediately hangs.

Are there drivers that need to be loaded before the installation begins?

I did a full format of the drive, so nothing is left.

    help!

  25. Kamal DS says:

@Erkme73 – I would suggest you to install via external DVD drive

  26. riviera says:

4Gb does not work on 751H. Does not boot.

  27. Kamal DS says:

Rivera, this is because Atom z520 does not allows you to use more than two GB RAM

  28. Adrien says:

Does anyone know of a way to get the function keys along the top of the keyboard to work again. Most of them do work, but no little picture comes up when you press them like it did originally. The brightness buttons do not work.

  29. 2b2b says:

    @Erkme73:

    hi !
have exactly the same problem with my 64 GB kingston ssd v+.
did You succed with dvd/drivers/black magic ?
too bad – would be nice with ssd..
    tnx ! 2b2b

  30. Randy says:

Hi, was this running 32 bit or 64 bit windows 7? Mine states it is the dual core atom and loaded 32 bit with no problem. I tried to load 64 bit Win 7 with no luck. Acer says it is compatible and I have seen some folks on the web that have run the 64 bit software. Which version will work and which one will not work?

    Thank you,
    Randy
