1TB HDD on Netbook now Possible

  • Sharebar

Samsung is now shipping the SpinPoint MT2 1TB 2.5-inch HDD. It runs at 5400rpm which is not surprising since platters in most high-density hard disk drives spin slowly than the 7200rpm HDDs.

There is a 750GB version too that uses two 333GB platters while the 1TB makes use of three 333GB platters. Samsung claims 20 percent better read/write performance and 4 percent less power-consumption than  its competitors. There is no information on its price

update – It won’t fit in a netbook. (Thanks Balazs!)

I think it won’t fit into Netbooks because it is too high with 12.5mm instead of 9.5. Otherwise the Western Digital 1TB should fit too!
