11nm CPUs in five years, says Intel

  • Sharebar

Intel will be switching over from the current 32nm process, introduced in Q4 2009 to the new 22nm process in Q4 2011, if everything goes according to their plans. The company’s roadmap talks that, it will stick to its two year per node plan. So going by Intel’s plan, after 22nm it should be 15nm process in  Q4 2013 and then in Q4 2015 it should be 11nm. The plan also include CPUs, 80% smaller than 11nm, might be 7nm.

What this means to us?

  • Smaller CPUs, more space for other equipments
  • Smaller netbooks/ultra portables
