Lenovo X100e review

  • Sharebar

The Lenovo Thinkpad is the company’s first product that features an 11.6-inch display. However, before you get deceived by its looks – it is NOT a netbook. It is powered by an AMD Athlon MV-40 processor that provides much more horsepower than a conventional netbook .

Powered by a powerful processor does not mean that you will have to bear with poor battery run times. Lenovo knows that battery life is extremely important on a mobile device like this. You will able to squeeze out nearly 5 hours of the standard 6-cell battery. Make sure you do not get the one with the 3-cell battery, as the battery runtime is mere 2.5 hours from it.

Weighs a modest 1.5kg, it comes 160/250/320GB hard disk, upto 4GB RAM, 3x USB 2.0 ports, card reader, Ethernet, WiFi b/g/n and even WWAN radio to keep you connected while on the go.

Interestingly, there are two ways to control the mouse pointer on the screen. Either by using the trackball or by using its multi-touch touchpad.

According to the hands-on by pcmag, the keys provide great tactile feedback even though they are not designed like a traditional Thinkpad keyboard. the key caps are curved to allow comfortable typing. However, expresscard slot is missing which is a standard feature in Thinkpad laptops.

Coming to its software side, Lenovo has bundled a slew of utilities with it – Thinkvantage suite, including Access Connections, Power Manager, and Active Protection.

The Thinkpad X100e comes with 1 year warranty and pricing starts at $449
