Asus 1001P review
As the technology improves, price of the hardware goes down. As a result of which, netbooks too, get cheaper. Acer 532H is a perfect example of this that retails for $299 for the entry-level model. Asus was also expected to answer back with something solid and here we have, the Asus Eee 1001P. This one too, just like Acer’s new netbook, retails at $299, but has a much longer runtime. Sporting the latest of the Intel Pine Trail series, the Asus 1001P comes with the Atom N450 processor that runs at 1.66GHz clock speed. Just like every other recently launched netbook under the Sun, it comes with Windows 7 Starter. There is nothing spectacular or special about this netbook, except its really low price. You get the plain Jane specs under its bonnet. So, let’s take a look at its specs, shall we?
- Intel Atom N450
- Windows 7 Starter. Nope it is not a Meego laptop or notebook
- 160GB HDD
- 1/2GB RAM
- Intel GMA 3150
- 10.1-inch display, 1024×600 resolution

It inherits the same seashell design that one finds in the rest of the netbook under Seashell range. This implies, you get the identical lines and curves that gives it a streamlined look. According to the review by laptopmag, the keyboard is very comfortable to use and battery life is long enough too (8 hours). The only con about this netbook is that it is not equipped with Wi-Fi n that should not matter to most of its buyers. Also, at $299, we cannot complain much. Can we?

I plan on buying this. I want to see if games like Homeworld and Homeworld 2, and other pre 2003 games will work. I have been reviewing this netbook and comparing it to other netbooks and I cannot see a better option.
299 is a great price.
