Zenithink ZT-180 – iPad clone running Android

  • Sharebar

This MID is one of the best iPad clone we have come across so far. The Zenithink ZT-180 is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor and runs Android 2.1 operating system. It looks exactly like an iPad, but it has 3 USB ports and one mini-USB port, which can also function as a USB host. To expand the memory, there is a microSD card slot and a even a RJ45 port for LAN access. However, to incorporate all those goodies, the company to make it a bit thick compared to the iPad.

It has a 10-inch display with WSVGA resolution (1024×600 pixels) and comes with built-in Wi-Fi and GPS modules. The company also claims that its slate is capable of playback of 720p and 1080p videos. Battery life is impressive too – 7 hours with WiFi off and 5 hours with WiFi on. Zenithink is offering various storage options for its ZT-180 tablet – 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB or 16GB.

There is no information on its price though.

I ordered mine from Amazon from HumanSlate.com for $295 a week or so ago and have it in hand. It does not have a cam or GPS – but that is ok, they did not advertise it with it anyways.

it’s got a plastic back, which is fine. It does not have Market installed but apparently this is going to be fixed soon in a software revision. It’s an issue for me, sure but not a deal breaker. We tinker – that’s what we do, right?

I had bought a 32GB MicroSD for it but it doesn’t seem to fit – the slot is too big, so I guess it’s maybe a Mini SD vs Micro? FML!

Who knows – I guess I’ll keep tinkering. All in all it’s a fun little project to occupy my time. for ~$300 it’s fine but I probably wouldn’t pay more for it.

I ordered one that just came in the mail. Unfortunately, it froze up on me after about 1/2 hour and does not responde to the power off button. I unplugged it and will have to wait until the battery discharges to restart it. Hopefully, this was just a fluke…

Larry – Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope other users will think twice before buying something like that

Larry, there is actually a small reset button hole beside the headphone jack. You may use a needle or something similar to push the reset button to force reboot the device.

Specifications seems to be fake. It is not an A8-Cortex but instead an slower arm11 processor:
