Acer LumiRead

  • Sharebar

For the first time, Acer tablet has made a public appearance and fortunately, it is not the Mr. Blurrycam who has leaked it. Infact, it is the CEO of Acer himself who was on stage in UAE today showing-off this suave tablet. This tablet which the Acer is calling the LumiRead eReader runs Android OS; has built-in 3G and sports a 6-inch touchscreen display.  The CEO was a bit reluctant in revealing rest of its specifications, but he did tell the press that it will be out in Q4 of 2010. There is no information on its price.

To me, it looks more like a color Kindle with Android OS slapped-on. Wait, what did I just say?

UPDATE – the Lumireader is now official

The Lumireader comes with 2GB flash memory and according to Acer, it can hold more than thousand eBooks. For those yearning for even more capacity, it is equipped with a MicroSD card. Also built into the device is an ISBN scanner that allows you to scan ISDN codes
