In a somewhat shocking move, Microsoft Studios has launched its Tamagotchi-like tiger cub mobile game Kinectimals in the App Store. Retailing at $2.99, the app enables users to nurture a litter of tiger cubs in the style of the original Tamagotchi games. Users can also play mother/zookeeper on a companion Xbox 360 version.

Earlier this month Microsoft released OneNote and My XBox Live in the Apple App Store, so the latest release may indicate another shot from Microsoft at its mobile competitors.
