64GB option of Microsoft Surface Pro tablet will leave you only 36 percent available. Windows 8 Pro will take up 41GB of your storage. Buy extra microSD card, or opt in a 128GB Surface Pro tablet for $999. 128GB model will leave you 83GB of available storage capacity (65 percent).
There are still few Surface Pro unknowns but with its launch on February 9th all specs and features will become available.
Apple has released a 128GB version of their iPad with a Retina display. There are two versions of this model. WiFi only iPad is sold for $799, while 4G model of iPad with Retina will set you back by $929. It is not available as yet but will be on February 5th, i.e. 4 days prior to launching Microsoft Surface Pro. Apple has strategically placed a 128GB model out there for businesses to test hoping they would prefer it to new Surface Pro tablets and its Windows 8 OS. Apple stated that “more than 85 percent of the Global 500″ companies are currently testing iPads for use in the business world.
iPad is still dominating the tablet ecosystem in US for many reasons including one of the best operating systems, a very fast A6X processor, over 300,000 iPad optimized apps. IPad with Retina 9.7-inch display has a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and Retina is a strong selling feature for Apple. Microsoft Surface Pro tablet’s 10.6-inch display will have 1920 x 1080 resolution. Let’s also remember that Surface Pro tablet’s battery will last half of that of Surface RT model, i.e. about 5 hours. iPad with Retina has a 10 hour battery.
iPad with 128GB of storage may be the tablet of choice for many businesses. Let’s not forget the popularity of Apple products in US and elsewhere. Over 87 percent of tablet web traffic in US and Canada is done using iPads.
Of course there are other variables to consider when you’re in business. Much of corporate software is windows based, most businesses already have windows in place and replacing it may be too costly. Apple does however offer a great option.
iPad with Retina and 128GB of storage came at a pertinent time to compete with Microsoft Surface Pro and at $70 cheaper, it may have a solid chance and high adoption rate with the corporate world.
