Microsoft Surface Pro price update
Microsoft announced yesterday the retail prices for Windows 8 new Surface tablets.
Surface tablets are selling modestly in scarse Microsoft retail stores and online. Surface tablets feature Windows RT os designed for power cautious ARM processors. ARM chips are dominating the smartphone and tablet market, but they do not support full Windows 8 os. That is why Microsoft made a bigger and heavier version tablet PC called Surface Pro.
Microsoft Surface Pro tablets are going on sale in January, missing the Christmas rush. Surface Pro tablets will start at $899 for a 64GB version. 128GB version of Surface Pro will cost you $100 more. Adding a keyboard cover will cost you another $120. Digitizing pen is included. Windows 8 is having less than perfect sales numbers despite the Christmas just around the corner so let’s hope Surface Pro will spruce this up for Microsoft early 2013.
Surface Pro tablet PC runs full Windows 8 version with full Office 2013 suite. The dimensions are 10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53 inches (275 x 173 x 13 mm). Surface Pro weighs 1.99 pounds (910 g). The ClearType Full HD LCD touch screen is 10.6 inches of 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 208 ppi pixel density (16:9 ratio). Under the hood we have dual-core Intel Ivy Bridge i5 cpu with HD Graphics 4000 and 4GB of RAM. Storage is 64GB or optional 128GB, both expandable by microSD, microSDHC, or microSDXC card. WiFi is 802.11n/g/b/a and Bluetooth is 4.0.
There is a 3.5 mm audio jack, USB 3.0, TV-Out, OTA sync, Mini DisplayPort as well as Cover port. Software included in Surface Pro tablet PC is Bing, Mail and Messaging, IE 10, SkyDrive, Xbox Music, Video, and Games.
