LG shows off new 5.5-inch LG Optimus G Pro smartphone at MWC.
Dimensions are 150.2 x 76.1 x 9.4 mm (5.91 x 3.00 x 0.37 inch). Notice that width is only 3 inches. This makes it very comfortable to hold. G Pro weighs 160 g (5.64 ounce). Optimus G Pro phablet features 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD display with 1080 x 1920 resolution, 6:9 aspect ratio and 400 ppi pixel density.
Unlike Samsung’s split screen, LG enables three apps to be used and seen at the same time. Small icons are floating above the app that you have open. LG calls this QSlide multitasking. A removable 3140 mAh battery powers the screen nicely.
Under the hood ticks away 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 APQ8064T chip with Adreno 320 graphics and 2GB of DDR RAM. Built in storage is 32 GB, but you can up it (up to 32 GB) via microSD cards.
Rear 13 MP camera has autofocus and it will produce a 1080p HD video. Front facing skyper is 2.1 MP. Both front and rear cameras can work simultaneously so you can really get creative. G Pro can connect to the web via LTE, or WiFi 802.11 a,b,g,n, and n on 5GHz. Other connectivity includes NFC, Bluetooth, Computer sync, Tethering, and OTA sync.
The operating system is Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with LG Emotion UI. There is a physical home button on the bottom of the phone. Back and menu buttons are on each side of the home button but they’re not physical buttons. The phone feels really light, especially when you consider the size of its battery and hardware specs. First impressions are very good, LG should hope to make a great seller out of LG Optimus G Pro following the huge success of Nexus 4.
