HKC showcased a prototype of a clone of Microsoft’s Surface Pro Windows 8 tablet at CeBIT in Germany. The knock off looks decently made with scaled down in specs, but it is slightly larger in size and lighter in purse. If you’re willing to buy 1000 of these the price tag reads measly $350.
HKC is a Chinese manufacturer that is offering branding of this Surface Pro knock off to businesses.
The design is almost identical to Microsoft’s flagship Surface windows Pro tablet. It has the same angular edges, kickstand, and ports including a keyboard dock connector at the bottom of the tablet.
The HKC windows 8 tablet features 11.6-inch touch screen with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. This Windows 8 Tablet runs Intel processor (i3, or 15) with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built in SSD storage expandable via SD cards. The knock off isn’t going to match Surface Pro tablet in performance, it doesn’t offer much storage and the display is not as crisp, but HKC windows 8 tablet will come at much lower price point. If this flies, we should be able to see other Surface-like tablets in various sizes and under different name around $500.
