ASUS EEE 1101HA review

The ASUS EEE 1101HA is the epitomization of good looks combined with great battery life. It carries the same Seashell design like its 10-inch brother, EEE 1008HA. But, the ASUS has entering a bit late into the 11.6-inch netbook market, but that does not make it an unattractive deal by any chance. It is a great netbook.

Acer AO751H REVIEW (same as Acer LT3000) (Acer Aspire One 751)

With so many netbook manufactures now breaking into the 10-inch+ screen limit, Acer was no way going to left behind in the business where it actually rules. The Acer A0751H is the first Acer Aspire One to sport an Intel Atom Z 520 processor that is clocked at 1.3GHz. However, the best part of this netbook is its resolution: 1366 x 768 px, which gives it an obvious edge over its competitors. So, was it able to impress us?

CULV or Intel Atom processor: A Comparison

From the past couple months, we have seen an incredible rise in the usage of the CULV processors in the notebooks, especially the ultra-slim ones from MSI.(MSI X400, MSI X610, HP DM3, Wind U120 and so on)

CULV processors are more powerful than the Intel Atom processors even at lower clock frequencies. However, there is one thing that has stopped most of the manufactures NOT to use it in their netbooks: PRICE.

frustrated

I feel acutely that once Intel and AMD, reduce the prices of the CULV processors a bit, most of the netbook manufactures will opt for equipping their netbooks with these more powerful CULV processors instead of Intel Atom CPUs.

I find the current netbook lineup monotonous as most of them netbooks currently have similar specs: N270/N280 processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard disk and so on. In worst cases, some manufactures had the atrocity to equip some of their netbooks with the Z-series Atom CPU, which is even slower than the former! At first blush, you will simply adore the god-like battery life that one can get by using these Z-series CPUs, but soon you come to realize that these CPUs are unbelievably slow.

On these Atom powered devices, it is completely awful to run Windows Vista as the processor just does not have the horsepower to run it. That said, all of the CULV processors (including AMD NEO) runs Windows Vista just fine. Granted, Windows 7 will change these things, but whenever you will need that ‘horsepower’, your netbook won’t be able to provide you that.

Final Thoughts: Next time, you are in the netbook market, try to get a netbook with CULV processor so that you can enjoy powerful computing experience together with great battery life.
