Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 and upcoming tablets
Qualcomm has been busy. There is no doubt that ARM based processors and devices are on the rise. Even Microsoft is working on Windows 8 which will support ARM technology.
Qualcomm has quad-core processors getting commercially ready for 2012. Newest chip Qualcomm S4 is made on 28nm technology and runs at 1.7GHz. Fudzilla had Enrico Salvatori, Qualcomm’s VP over to talk about their newest S4 chip.
In 2012 Qualcomm will incorporate their processors in some 350 Snapdragon designs. Most of these of course are smartphones, but in early 2012 Qualcomm promises to launch their first quad-core tablets and later expand to ultraportable notebooks. Qualcomm currently works on 30 new tablets run by their chipsets.
In last Microsoft Build conference Qualcomm showcased their Windows 8 certified quad-core technology. in 2012 we will see more exciting smartphones, tablets and netbooks running processors clocked at 2.5GHz and higher.
