ARM chip success

  • Sharebar

ARM Thanks to an explosion of licensing contracts in the third world, British processor manufacturer ARM has announced a 44% increase in profits for the third quarter of 2011. ARM’s processor architecture is found in iPad and iPhones, amongst many other smartphones and tablets.

ARM’s pre-tax earnings leapt to $72m, with turnover climbing by 20%. The figures were even higher than analysts had predicted. ARM’s growth in non-mobile markets – TVs and peripheral devices – rose 50%. All of which should help ARM invest in long-term growth via research and development. ARM signed 28 processor licences in Q3. In case you’re wondering what it means for you, just ask yourself whether the success of a company named Intel has affected you in any way.
