ChromiumPC by Xi3
Google’s Chrome operating system has caught a lot of attention. Samsung has released Chromebook that will be available for sale or rent next month. Chrome OS is light OS designed to support web browser. It is compatible with any hardware. Google is now collaborating with Samsung on desktop computer called Chromebox.
Now, company Xi3 has developed their own desktop computer named ChromiumPC Modular Computer and yes this is the worlds first desktop computer running Google’s Chrome operating system. ChromiumPC has been unveiled in 2010 and won Innovations Award Winner in the Computer Hardware category for the 2011 International CES. ChromiumPC can run any x86-based os including Windows, Linux and Unix.
ChromiumPC contains 3 modules:
This module system makes it really easy to upgrade by simply changing a module. Other specs are surprisingly not available at the moment, other than the fact that Xi3 ChromiumPC will use 64-bit x86 processor. ChromiumPC is to be very energy coscious as it takes only 20W of power and will be available on July 4th.
Word is we will be seeing Chrome OS implemented on tablets as the code contains provisions for touch screen support.
