A Full High School Education In A Year
To ensure the continued progression of civilization, or perhaps just to make worldwide economic depressions more bearable, children – the citizens of tomorrow – must be well-educated, and the good news is this task can now be accomplished via video games.
Nolan Bushnell, Atari founder, has tested education software for years, and has now created an application for teaching an entire high school curriculum in under a year. The system makes extensive use of cloud software. Bushnell explained how “in cloud computing you disconnect the system’s administration from your computer to the cloud”.
Bushnell maintains his program teaches pupils ten times faster than traditional methods, and expects it to be ready by the end of 2011. Direct competition comes from the Kinect-based education blog KinectEDucation, which promotes the use of Kinect to enhance learning environments. KinectEDucation is currently running a Kinect in Education competition, challenging developers to create Kinect apps for classroom use , with two $500 prizes on offer for the most innovative and adaptable classroom software.
