CES 2013 – what to look forward to

Since 1967 United States has been hosting Consumer Electronics Show known as CES. Last 32 years it has been held in Las Vegas every winter. On January 8th this trade only (not open to public) CES 2013 will kick it off in Convention Center (1.87 million square feet of space) with over 3,300 exhibitors and well over 150,000 visitors expected. What can we expect to see?
World’s biggest innovation trade show will dazzle us with,
- Samsung’s new “unprecedented” TV design
- World’s highest resolution computer monitor by LG
- World’s first OLED big screen TV
- Touch-sensitive iPhone case
- Window cleaning robot
- Chair with built in noise cancellation
- Glasses free 3D TV
- Revolutionary gesture recognition interfaces and many other inventions.
With Microsoft not having a ‘significant presence’ this year, many smaller Chinese innovators like ZTE, Huawei, Xiaomi and Hisense will demand attention. Xiaomi for example has been joked about as Chinese Apple with Mi3 (with Tegra 4 chip) handset to be released on January 16th (and for half of iPhone’s price tag). Huawei will showcase their new Ascend D2 & W1 smartphones as well as massive 6.1-inch (361ppi) phablet called Huawei Ascend Mate. ZTE will feature its 5-inch Nubia Z5 and its crystal clear 443ppi screen.
Many of Windows 8 computers are to be exhibited by Lenovo, Samsung, Toshiba and Dell. Much is held back, much is to be discovered.
We’re expecting to see wearable gadgets like Pebble Smartwatch that pairs with your smartphone to get the most important stuff right on your wrist. FitBit will accurately measure your steps, calories and work with some apps as well. Vuzix Smart Glasses M100 use Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone as a virtual display. It’s like having a smartphone display right in front of you without having to actually hold it.
Toyota will exhibit self driving cars and Ford will show us their newest dashboard technologies.
Cameras will be shown off at this years CES. Android-based CSC camera with 3.5-inch touch-screen by Polaroid will be featured.
Celebrities are starting to work their way in the technology market. HTC is known for their exquisite Dr. Dre Beats Audio. Word is Snooki is coming with entire tech gear. There will be headphones, portable speakers and iPhone and iPad covers by this Jersey Shore’s star. Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead will show off his newest “Motorheadphones”. CES 2013 will feature Bill Clinton, 50 cent and Danny DeVito as luminaries.
