Google recently announced they are going to be releasing two new Nexus smartphones in the near future. These phones are called the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, and will be much different than previous versions of Nexus. For starters, the phones are going to have the new Android 6.0 operating system. This is the latest version of the popular Android OS created by Google. The nickname for Android 6.0 is Marshmallow.
Besides the new OS, the phones will have better quality cameras, improved fingerprint sensory technology on the rear, bigger batteries, and new power saving options that will be included with Android 6.0. However, another change in the OS that IT managers and business users will appreciate are the enhanced security options. Users will now be able to keep their personal apps and business apps separate from each other. This kind of feature used to be available through add-on software and apps that you would have to download, but now users will be able to have the feature built right into the operating system.

It would be very hard for Android to make itself stand out amongst these top two competitors unless they did something unique with their smartwatches that no one else has done. This new move by Android will likely be the thing that keeps their watches selling and keeps them stable in the marketplace. For one thing, Android Wear is only $100 whereas the Apple Watch starts at $500. Most people are not going to pay $500 when they can pay $100, especially if it will communicate with their existing iPhone. The one bad thing Apple has going for it is its prices. They are always the most expensive computer brand on the market. Since smartwatches are not really that popular to begin with, it is unlikely that consumers will keep shelling out $500 for the newest Apple Watch. Therefore, Google has a strong chance of getting their Android Wear ahead of the game.
The search engine giant Google is partnering up with semiconductor chip giant Intel to bring depth sensing technology to Google’s Android smartphones. Intel showcased many of its new products recently at the Intel Developer Forum that was held in San Francisco. Intel introduced their Project Tango Developer Kit to the spectators, which the company has been collaborating on with Google. This developer kit will be integrated into Android smartphones along with its RealSense technology. This technology will give app developers the chance to develop depth sensing software powered by the developer kit. Users will be able to create apps that can perform indoor navigation, virtual reality, 3D scanning, area learning and much more.
Intel announced that the developer kit is scheduled to be released at the end of the year for selected Android developers only. These developers are going to be testing the developer kit and will likely provide feedback to Intel and Google. The developer kit will eventually be released to the main public once all the bugs and glitches are worked out from the test run. Google has already put a Project Tango tablet for sale at a price of $512. You can purchase it at the Google Store. However, people are more excited to have this technology brought to Android smartphones because those mobile devices are more popular than tablets.
Brian Krzanich, CEO of Intel, had showed off a prototype of the Android smartphone developer kit. The device has several cameras on the backside, which makes it the perfect device for scanning objects in 3D. If you are an architect or someone getting involved in 3D printing, this 3D scanner could be just what you are looking for. Imagine being able to create blueprints in 3D using the scanner and then transferring those scanned images to a 3D printer that can turn them into a physical scale model. This would save so much time and money from having to create the model yourself.

This is a mobile chip that is supposed to help prolong the battery life in your mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. The chip will also give you better location data, even if you are in a location without a powerful navigational signal. Plus, if you take pictures with the mobile device then it will give you a nicer blend of bright and dark imagery. New smartphones that offer camera improvements are usually big sellers. We have already seen that plenty of times with Apple’s iPhones and Samsung’s Galaxy phones. The new Google smartphone “Ara” has been delayed by the company until later this year. The delay is most blamed on iterations in its design quality. As you may know, the Google Ara is going to be a modular smartphone. This means that users will be able to put together parts on the phone or replace parts that break without having to get technical support. For example, if you were to drop your smartphone onto the ground and the screen got cracked, normally you would have to send the smartphone back to the manufacturer under a warranty and they would fix it for you. With the Google Ara modular smartphone, users will be able to replace the screen on their own. All they will have to do is slide out the old screen and slide in a new screen. It will be significantly cheaper to just purchase a spare screen than it would be to fix or replace an entire phone. If this modular smartphone were to be released, it would help people out in so many ways. People who purchase $500 smartphones will no longer have to worry about dropping their phone or spilling something on it. Users will also be able to upgrade their phone by simply replacing older parts with newer parts. Then they won’t have to go out and purchase a whole new phone just to get simple upgrades on things like cameras, speakers and so on.

Huawei is already known for creating Google’s Nexus 6P, which is supposed to charge faster than other phones on the market. But the problem most Smartphone manufacturers have is they are still using lithium-ion batteries in their mobile devices. Mobile technology manufacturers are racing to be the first ones to create something better than the typical lithium-ion batteries that are in the current mobile devices.
Huawei’s new lithium-ion battery features a new configuration which allows it to charge up to ten times faster than other lithium-ion batteries. If this proves to be true then it will attract more people to Huawei’s line of wearables, handsets and other mobile networking devices. The tech company already revealed its quick charging batteries during a video presentation last week at the 56th Battery Symposium held in Japan. They demonstrated to the spectators how a 3,000mAh battery that has a 620Wh/L energy density can be recharged to almost 50% within 5 minutes. They also demonstrated how a 600mAh battery could be recharged to 68% in just 2 minutes.
Huawei seems very optimistic about their recent innovation. This fast charging battery could be used in electric vehicles, mobile phones, wearable devices, digital cameras, and any other mobile device that requires battery power. However, the company is not just stopping here. Their dream is to create an even faster charging battery. They claim they want to develop a battery that could be fully charged while the user is on a short coffee break. This could mean 5-10 minutes at the most, instead of the 2-3 hours it takes for modern day batteries to charge. If everything goes well then Huawei may be selling their batteries to all the major mobile phone manufacturers, so they can put it in their own technology.
The Chinese telecommunications and computer equipment company, Huawei, is rumored to be teaming up with Google for the creation of their next Nexus phone nicknamed “Bullhead.” This collaboration could involve the Google Play Store being brought to China because it would get preinstalled on the Huawei Nexus when it gets released there. If Google pulls this off then they would be opening up their stores to a whole new market of consumers. Rumors also suggest that the agreement between Google and Huawei would involve a way to introduce the Huawei Watch into the Western marketplace. There may even be a possibility that this Android run wearable will work with iPhones as well. But these are all just rumors and there are no guarantees that any of it will happen.
The main obstacle Google faces is gaining reentry into the Chinese marketplace. Right now they are only helping with the development of the next Nexus phone, but there are no guarantees that the Google Play Store will be on there. This is just a wish that Google wants to make come true. The good news is it looks like the United States will be getting the phone very soon. The device contains a 3500mAh battery and 5.7 inch screen display, which would ultimately make it a phablet because of its above average size. In the mean time, LG is developing another Nexus phone with the nickname “Angler.” This will be a smaller Smartphone with a 5.2 inch display, a 2700mAh battery, a Snapdragon 808 processor and a totally new exterior design.
Google hasn’t released any specifications on the hardware for the Nexus devices yet. Critics think Google is waiting to release their next version of the Android operating system called “Android M” before they give out the hardware specs. Google should be release the Android M near the end of the year, so perhaps they will reveal it then. With four months left, Google still has time to negotiate with Huawei and come up with a great agreement that will satisfy both parties.
Consumers still care more about cost than anything else. Even if Google is able to get the Huawei Nexus into the United States, the affordability of the device will likely attract them the most. As for the consumers of the Chinese market, they will bring plenty of business to Google if the company is able to get their Play Store onto the Nexus phones sold in China. It will be exciting to see how the arrangement between Huawei and Google pans out.
Fitbit is a fitness wearable company that focuses on smartwatches that cater to health and fitness. Naturally, they have created some competition for the Apple Watch. The only difference is the Apple Watch doesn’t only focus on health and fitness related applications. They also connect users to their iPhones and allow them to check their email and so on. So why would somebody want to purchase a wearable from Fitbit when it only focuses on health and fitness? Well for one thing, they are a well known brand when it comes to fitness tracking products. Their sales numbers have already proven their capabilities of having great success. In 2014, their number of sales doubled from the previous year of 2013. That is pretty impressive for any tech company. Research now indicates that FitBit controls about 62% of the market share for all fitness trackers sold in the United States. Between this piece of information and the record profits they are making, it looks like FitBit will become a fierce competitor to the Apple Watch.
Sources have already indicated that Fitbit’s wearable will be cheaper than the Apple Watch. However you have to consider that the Apple Watch has all the same fitness apps as the Fitbit wearable, plus a whole lot more. Therefore, it all depends on how important the fitness apps are to you. If you are the type of person that wants to get a smartwatch simply to track your heart rate and distance traveled, then the Fitbit wearable might be the best choice. But if you are someone that wants the full potential of what a smartwatch can do and you are not afraid to pay extra money for it, then go with the Apple Watch instead.

If these wearables ever get marketed to Americans over the internet, then they may very well just go with those. The only thing that could save American wearable companies is if their brand and quality prove to be more important to American consumers than cost.
