BlackBerry 10 to support Jelly Bean apps

BlackBerry is to update Android runtime to support Jelly Bean apps.

BlackBerry, formerly known as RIM (Research in Motion), has launched a new Blackberry 10 OS and their two new flagship devices BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10. Striving to be unique and carving its own niche Blackberry 10 is up against iOS, android and windows phone. BlackBerry has unique features appeal to largely business community for it’s security and BlackBerry Balance, but to sway consumers away from Apple iPhone, or Samsung Galaxy SIII will take a bit more than just the Time-shifting camera, or People Hub. BlackBerry 10 needs to compete with apps!

70,000 apps in BlackBerry World is impressive given the short time BB10 has been out, but it cannot possibly compete with the likes of  Google Play or App Store.

At a developer’s event in Amsterdam yesterday BlackBerry announced an update of BlackBerry 10′s Android runtime to support Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This means that once in place, BlackBerry users will be able to side load all android apps and use them on their BlackBerry devices. Not time frame had been given.
