Asus Padfone?
It seems as though there is no shortage of new gadget categories. There are pads and there are phones. Asus proudly introduces Padfone.
We can think of Padfone as a smartphone which docks into a tablet, or tablet with phone capabilities. In any case, the combo of a smartphone and tablet seems like a great idea. Display switches between 10.1 inch tablet and 4.3 inch smartphone seamlessly. Once smartphone is connected display switches to tablet. Smartphone cannot run on Honeycomb just yet, but we’re not sure what the operating system of choice will be used. The tablet portion of this Asus Padfone acts like an extended battery and display with speakers, with convenient I/O dock. Sadly, tablet would not work by itself.
Padfone you see in videos below is of course just a prototype, but Asus plans to release this magic tablet phone combo before Christmas. Along with Padfone Asus will release second generation ASUS Android tablets, which will replace the Asus Transformer and Asus Slider.
