Touchwiz UX – update for the Samsung Galaxy 10.1

Samsung’s newest version of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 OS, Touchwiz UX, launched on August 5th. The following are just a few of the new UI features available with the OTA update:

- Support for PC and Mac in Samsung Kies.
- Live Panel is a widget view for live updates of weather, email, news and social networking on the Home pane.
- Mini Mode Tray now provides one-tap access to commonly-used apps.
- Clipboard is an advanced version of Copy-and-Paste.
- a Photo editor.
- the Indicator Quick Panel in the lower right corner of the screen allows users to toggle WiFi, notifications, sound, brightness and settings on or off.
- Amazon’s Music Cloud Player and the Kindle app are now supported
- the OS now provides full support for Exchange ActiveSync version 14
- on-device encryption and Compatibility with Cisco’s VPN / Sybase MDM / WebEx are now supported
- wireless printing from any compatible printer
- the newly-uupdated Swype app allows resizing of the keyboard, and the keys can be rearranged on the panel, for instance into alphabetical order.
- Adobes Flash 10.3 is supported.
- Samsung Media Hub service has been revamped.

New Galaxy Tab 10.1 Accessories

The NYC media event also heralded a plethora of new accessories for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Most of these had been promised previously, but pricing details were released:

- an aluminum stylus with a silicon tip…$20
- a multimedia Dock, which can charge the tablet, prop it device up in landscape mode, and gives it an HDMI out-socket…$50
- the Ultra Productivity Tool also charges the Galaxy 10.1 and includes a full-sized keyboard with Android shortcut keys…$80
- a Premium Protective Case which transforms the Galaxy into a pseudo-notebook with a full-size Bluetooth keyboard. Also included is a hinge to enable adjustment of the tab’s viewing angle…$150
- an HDTV adapter gives the Galaxy full glorious 1080p HDMI output…$40
- a Premium Book Cover – basically an attractive case for the device which allows the galaxy Tab to be propped up for entering text or watching movies …$60
