Infinity 700 vs iPad 3

iPad Site released an interesting comparison of new iPad 3 and Asus Transformer Pad Infinity 700. Infinity 700 isn’t released yet, but specs are known, so let’s take a closer look at this new android flagship and compare it to recently released new iPad 3.

First major difference between the two is under the hood, the very heart of every tablet, the CPU. The new iPad 3 runs on 1GHz dual-core A5X processor. Infinity 700 WiFi has a fast computing 1.6GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 T33 chip and 3G and 4G will come with 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM Snapdragon S4. Pad Infinity 700 will have ULP GeForce graphics. Quad-core graphics on iPad 3 aren’t too shabby either. It’s worth noting here that not very many apps are written to optimise four cores and when benchmarked faster processing dual core A5X chip may actually surpass the quad core one. We’re itching to compare these two once we get our hands on the 700. RAM if 1GB on both devices.

Displays on both iPad 3 and Infinity 700 are very compatible. iPad 3 is 9.7-inch IPS 2048 x 1536, 264ppi, 4:3 ratio and 700 has 10.1-inch display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, 224 ppi and 16:10 ratio. Both tablets handle 1080p movies, but movie lovers prefer the 16:10 ratio, whereas for everything else 4:3 ratio is better.

Transformer Pad Infinity kicks ass with its rear facing 8MP and front facing 2MP cameras. Apple probably din’t think camera be a selling feature so New iPad 3 gets a combo of 5MP and 0.3MP cameras.

Price on Infinity 700 has not been confirmed but we expect 32 GB version to cost $599 as in iPad 3. Word is however, that Pad Infinity 700 will not come in economic version with 16GB of storage, hence iPad 3 starter will cost you $100 less.

Battery on new Apple iPad 3 offers 10 unsurpassed hours on a single charge. This comes at a price of extra 0.9mm to the thickness and 66grams to the weight when compared to Transformer Pad Infinity. Battery of Infinity 700 is to last 10 hours as well.

Operating systems are both great. The new iPad 3 offers much loved iOS whereas Infinity 700 will boast renown Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.
