iOS 6.1 gets a long awaited upgrade with support of LTE, e-commerce as well as new privacy features.
iPhone, iPad and iPod now get a much faster internet connection wherever LTE is serviced. The connection speed will vary depending on the area and a provider you’re with, but expected range is 10 Mbps to 50 Mbps. There have been 36 new iPhone and 23 new iPad providers added. With faster internet all data heavy apps will benefit including FaceTime, iCloud, browsing and downloading. Speaking of iClod and downloading, if you are a member of iTunes Match, you can download your tunes directly from iCloud. Watch your data! With faster connection you may want to stay connected more often and for longer periods of time.
Among other added features this will enable let’s mention Fandango support for Siri. You can now order movie tickets using a voice command. Apple’s Maps get new cartography, ‘turn-by-turn navigation’ and ‘Flyover view’. Now you can also post directly from Notification Center. Contacts and Calendar are now FaceBook integrated.
Apple had recently cancelled its UDID number as it raised privacy concerns. New Advertising Identifier reset feature had been added with this iOS 6.1 update. You can find it under ‘Settings’. Reseting of Advertising Identifier will work much like clearing your cookies.
Apple’s Philip Schiller offered,
“iOS 6 is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, and with nearly 300 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices on iOS 6 in just five months, it may be the most popular new version of an OS in history. iOS 6.1 brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultrafast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services, and iTunes and App Store downloads.”
