Installation of apps on NOOKcolor

  • Sharebar

As we all know, Nookcolor is a 7 inch color e-book reader with a unique twist with the inclusion of Android on the device. Its basic model only offers some key applications like the application from Barnes and Noble as well as a browser for the web. Of course hackers will certainly find a way to add some juice to this $250 device and so it will become a functional device. Of course, it will take some trial and error but just recently, someone was able to do the hack. Now, we can see how we can implement the Android Market to the Nookcolor to enjoy the various Google Apps.

First, you have to get some access to the device’s root system and then there are some rigid steps that you have to strictly follow. You need to also copy some files from a computer to your device using a particular developer kit for software programs. Of course there will be some setbacks since this is just the first time it was done. It can be quite hard to make it work but the great thing is that it is fairly difficult to actually screw up and so if you made a mistake, do not worry, Nookcolor will still be Nookcolor.

Worse comes to worst? The most awful thing that could happen is that you need to restore the default settings and start over again which is not really that bad. You can check out the instructions of how to implement the Android Market to your Nookcolor. You can also include applications like YouTube, and Gmail. Check out Nook Devs and see the way they hack this device and make it more of a tablet than an e-reader. This is certainly an amazing device that you can take advantage of if you want to bring out more from your humble e-reader Nook.
