Ainovo Novo 7 Arrives In US

A new budget tablet has arrived in the US at under $100, in The form of the Ainovo Novo 7 Basic. It features a 1GHz Ingenic mobile processor, a slightly low 800 x 480 LED screen and front- and rear-facing cameras.

The Ainovo Novo 7 Basic measures 7.4 x 0.5 inches 188 x 112 x 12mm, almost exactly The same size as Amazon’s Kindle Touch or Kindle Fire. However it weighs 150 grams more than the Fire.

Ports include HDMI, mini-USB and headphone jack, and there’s also a microSD card to expand the 8GB onboard memory. That 800 x 480 display is just about tolerable, but nowhere near as sharp as the 1024 x 600 pixel resolution of the Kindle Fire.

Ainovo Novo 7 sports a hefty 8 hour battery. Archos budget tablets last just over 7 hours on a charge.

Single-core CPUs getting a bit old-hat in the tablet market, confined to ultra-low-priced slates and early 2011 models, but nevertheless can perform well enough on the Android OS – even the quad-core Asus Transformer Prime is subject to the odd interruption to the user experience. Chinese call this the first budget Ice Cream Sandwich tablet and this is where the buck stops. Having an ICS tablet for $170 is quite a deal.

Novo 7 runs pretty smoothly, it is capable of 1080P output. It comes in white or black.
