1080p smartphone craze in China

Chinese smartphones

While 720p display and video has been great, it is slowly but surely becoming obsolete. Well, at least dated. 1080p is the new heat wave flooding Asia.

HTC One, or LG Optimus Pro G are the new top-tier phones to look out for. Companies like Lenovo, Huawei, and ZTE are all making 1080p phones. There are of course many high specced phones we never get to see in US.

Gizchina compiled a list of 15 new smartphones featuring 1080p screen in China. Notice how many OEMs you never even heard of. Here is the list:

Lando X02
UMi X2
iOcean X7
Alcatel One Touch Idol X
Oppo Find 5
Koobee Max
ZTE Grand S
Huawei Ascend D2
Lenovo K900
JiaYu S1
Neo N003
Nubia Z5
Vivo X5
Xiaomi Mi3
Zopo

We heard of course of Xiaomi Mi android smartphone. Xiaomi is popped onto our radar with their Mi2 smartphone similarly specced to iPhone 4S but costing half. Xiaomi is now working on their Mi3 rumored to have 1080 display.

Lenovo IdeaPhone K900 Phablet features 1080 screen and packs 2GHz dual-core Z2580 Intel Clover Trail chip, PowerVR SGX 544MP graphics and 13MP camera.

ZTE Grand S LTE is another 1080 5-incher. Sporting quad-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro chip with 2GB of RAM, ZTE Grand S LTE keeps up with the rest. 13MP camera seems to be another norm.

Alcatel One Touch Idol X also sports 1080 5-inch display with 441 ppi pixel density. It runs 1.2GHz quad-core chip with 2GB of RAM. The rear camera is of 13MP. This Jelly Bean phablet is only 6.45 mm thin, but it’s 2000 mAh battery that will last 10 hours of talk time.

A lot of these superb phones don’t make it to our shore, only god knows why, but if they did, they would cost less than 400 bucks.
